Database Superhero’s Adventures, October 2017 Edition

Wow, this year has been really busy.  I’ve completely turned into a SQL Saturday addict with 15 SQL Saturdays completed, two more scheduled, and one more potential one to go.  I might need an intervention or a 12-step program or I just may continue to have fun and meeting everyone and sharing my knowledge.

This week I will be speaking at the Companero Conference on Collecting Performance Stats in Norfolk, VA October 4th and 5th.  This will be a unique presentation for me as I will mostly be doing demos so the attendees can come away with very actionable content so they can implement a solution in their environment.  Hope everyone enjoys the format.

Then I’ll be headed down to Orlando for SQL Saturday to deliver two talks one on Query Store and the other giving Tips on Managing Lots of SQL Servers on October 7th.  I love both these talks.  Query Store because it’s the coolest feature Microsoft has come out with in long time that is available in all editions of SQL Server.  The other one because it’s hard to manage a lot of servers and there are a lot of tools available that are free to help with that.  Hope to meet a lot of new people in Orlando!

The following Saturday, October 14th I’ll be staying close to home and speaking at SQL Saturday Charlotte on Query Store.

Then I’ll be taking a two break to prepare the scary, most exciting part.  I’ll be speaking at PASS Summit on monitoring availability groups.  During the break, I will be taking the time to visit the foster children I volunteer with through the North Carolina Guardian ad Litem program and attending court one day for a case.

I’ll be traveling to PASS Summit and being a First Time Buddy maybe yours.  If you haven’t been to PASS you should go.  It’s like going to SQL Saturday except getting the very best sessions for three days and doing all the networking and having parties every night.  I’ll be attending the PowerShell pre-con on October 31st.

I am also helping plan an event to deliver SQL on Linux content to the PASS community as well as still coordinating getting those talks into the Virtual Groups.  As those talks hit YouTube I am adding them to the playlist that is linked at the top of my website.
