Database Superhero’s Adventures, November 2017 Edition

I rebranded my website to match my job title.  I like the comic book feel and superhero theme.  At had a few designs to pick from but went with a classic American superhero with red and blue colors logo with ripping off their shirt jumping into action which is the way I feel when troubleshooting my systems at work.  We don’t usually have easy problems to solve.  Just ask me what happens if you change your encryption key levels and have hekaton enabled then upgrade to 2017.

The year is winding down on SQLSaturdays with only DC left maybe to speak at, we shall see.

I’m super excited and nervous to be speaking at PASS Summit with my talk of Beyond the Install: Monitoring Availability Groups.  I’m also looking forward to meeting my first-time buddies there and enjoy all the extracurricular activities PASS Summit has to offer.

I also now a proud member of the Idera Ace club.  Idear has picked me among a star-studded class to be ACE for 2017 and will enjoy the opportunities this will give me to present at even more SQLSaturdays and GeekSyncs and other events.

When I get back from PASS Summit I will be presenting my Query Store Primer session to the Database Administration Virtual Group on November 8th.

The next day I head up to DC to present to the local user group a new presentation on SQL Server Performance Metrics: How do you collect them and why should you care?

I will be taking the time to visit the foster children I volunteer with through the North Carolina Guardian ad Litem program and attending court once this month for one of my cases.

By November 1, PASS will have announced the PASS Linux Marathon scheduled for December 13th that I helped organize.  We have an awesome line up of speakers. Thank you to all the speakers that agreed to speak at this event.  As those talks hit YouTube I will be adding them to the playlist that is linked at the top of my website.  I’ll am still looking for speakers for next year for PASS Virtual Groups so we all can continue to learn Linux together.  Just email me if you are interested.
